The President's Voice
from the PRESIDENT

We are spiritual runners
It is no secret that I love football! Every fall and winter I follow the teams, both college and professional, and watch as many games as possible each weekend. Thankfully, my wife and family share my passion! We enjoy watching the teams develop and try to determine which teams will be the best by the end of the season. I am fascinated by the strategy of the game and most definitely I am awed by the skill and athleticism of the players. Each year, teams compete to be the number one team and "win the prize." Bu te time you read this article, the winners will be determined and teams will be preparing for the next season and another try at being the best.
Paul used the athletes of his day as object lessons for the followers of Christ when he said, "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Just as runners of his day, Paul saw himself and all of those who follow Chist as "spiritual runners."
